Volkswagen T-Roc

Exhibited at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen T-Roc concept underpins MQBB platform. This platform is used in some of the other cars from the German carmaker’s clan and its luxury wing Audi. Volkswagen T-Roc is a two-door SUV which features a removable roof. Power is expected to come from a 2.0 litre, TDI diesel motor which is capable of pumping out robust power output. A seven speed dual-clutch gearbox is expected to work conjunction with the diesel power train and an all wheel drive system is also likely to be equipped in the SUV responsible for transmitting power to all four wheels. Since the SUV was revealed before the auto aficionados in the concept form last year, hence we expect a lot of other changes to be done before it makes to the Indian shores. To make it a viable option for Indian customers, Volkswagen could spin off a four door version of the SUV which is more popular in the domestic market. On the outside, the compact SUV is likely to get a 3D radiator grille featuring honeycomb shaped openings. A high-gloss black trim strip is placed beneath the head lights highlighted by the LED head lamps fitted on either side. Front bumper gets fog lights with integrated LED turn indicators and air intakes. The lower grille of the front apron looks more aggressive. Overall semblance of the SUV appears to be sporty, but as mentioned above, plethora of changes are expected to be bestowed on the SUV before it makes to the Indian market. The SUV will be placed along the lines of other compact SUVs available in India and hence we expect T-Roc to be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 16 lakh.

Power could be pumped out through a 2.0 litre, turbo-diesel direct injection engine that has been tuned to dish out maximum power output of 184 PS. The engine could come with three driving modes, namely street, Off-road and snow. A 7-speed dual clutch transmission could be mated to the diesel mill. Along with this, an all wheel drive system is also likely to be affixed transmitting power to all four wheels. For Indian market, Volkswagen could also include a petrol powertrain, however there are no details out on it yet.

Nothing concrete has been revealed yet on this front yet by the German auto giant.
