The current focus of manufacturers is shifting towards better-designed motorcycles, which are slightly more powerful but not missing out on good fuel efficiency. The government's policy banning the sale of BSIII emission level vehicles from 1st April, 2017, has forced all manufacturers to update combustion and exhaust systems to release lesser green house gases.

The new generation of motorcycles and scooters has started gaining improved features and much nicer designs. New headlamp designs and sculpted fairing parts not only look better but also try to reduce wind blast and aid in cooling of motorcycles. World-class features, like automatic headlamps, LED head lamps (as in motorcycles like Bajaj Dominar 400 and Yamaha FZ25), full digital meters, etc., are now spreading to the commuter segment, and ABS braking is gaining huge interest. Cost to Own
Recent surveys show that customers want reliability and lower maintenance costs from their machines, meaning robust with cheap spare parts. Although service costs more or less remain similar, service intervals have been extended to reduce running costs.
